MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

I became the director of the Adult School in 1997 after serving 15 years as the principal at Burlingame High. My twelve years here have brought me a great deal of satisfaction, and I am grateful that I enjoy both the respect and cooperation of the faculty and staff. Working together, we combined our efforts to expand the services we could provide the community by improving the variety of classes and the level of commitment in our service area.

Today, the Adult School is about to enter the most challenging of times. With so many schools vying for a shrinking number of educational dollars, we must make many hard choices concerning which programs will benefit the greatest number of students at the lowest possible operating cost. As you have probably noticed, we have started to charge fees for classes that were once free to the community. We have also reduced the size and distribution of our brochure. Finally, we have reduced the number of scheduled class dates to make better use of our facilities.

These have been difficult decisions to make, but we are all committed to delivering the best possible instruction to all of our students. Throughout this time, I hope that I can continue to rely on the support of you, our student community, to help us maintain our high standards for providing relevant instruction delivered at a reasonable cost to the student.
