Agreement Between the San Mateo Union High School District and the Adult School Federation of Teachers

TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS

Temporary assignments may be made to respond to overflow or uncertain attendance patterns, short-term needs, and other special circumstances. Such assignments may be made from an unranked-pool of qualified teachers who have expressed interest in being assigned new or more teaching hours with the adult school. Hours assigned in the temporary category will not be counted toward tenure, a higher level of benefits nor generate illness leave unless or until they become regular hours.

Temporary assignments may be made for no more than six (6) pay periods. At the end of the sixth pay period any hours assigned as temporary will become regularly assigned. A regular assignment's posting and process of teacher selection will be consistent with the other applicable conditions of this contract. Should the temporary teacher be assigned as a regular teacher, the initial date of assignment will be used to establish seniority or tenure date.
