Agreement Between the San Mateo Union High School District and the Adult School Federation of Teachers

ARTICLE XIV: ASSIGNMENT

Section 1.

Employees shall be assigned in accordance with the Education Code certification requirements at Sections 44253, et seq. Employees shall not generally be assigned outside their major or minor fields, or areas of recent experience without their consent.

Section 2.

Employees shall be provided a written confirmation a minimum of ten (10) working days before the class or subject assignment is scheduled to begin. This requirement shall not prevent the District from opening additional classes on less than ten (10) working days notice, whenever the District deems that additional classes are necessary. However, the District will inform the Federation when exceptions to this paragraph must be taken. Notwithstanding any other provision of this agreement, giving notice shall not interfere with the District's right to cancel classes.

Section 3.

Assignment of certificated staff is the prerogative of the District. Assignment includes sites, classrooms, and subjects and times when class will meet.
