I want to take a class with section number beginning with 15 or 16. What should I do?

  1. Perform your online orientation.
  2. Register.
  3. Log in to your classroom after 1:00 PM on the scheduled start date..

How can I register?
You may register in one of three ways:

  1. Online - Click on "Register for This Course" at the end of each course description. After you fill out and submit the online form, you will receive an email with a questionnaire. Fill it out and bring or send it in with your payment by mail or fax.
  2. By Mail or Fax - Print out our registration form and mail or fax it in with your payment. Our mailing address is 789 East Poplar Avenue, San Mateo CA 94401, Attention: Thomas Jung. Our fax number is (650)762-0232.
  3. Come to the SMART Center at 789 East Poplar Avenue, San Mateo.

How do I pay for my course?
By check - Mail or bring it to 789 East Poplar Avenue, San Mateo CA 94401, Attention: Thomas Jung.

By credit card - Mail, fax, telephone, or walk-in with your information.

Our mailing address is 789 East Poplar Avenue, San Mateo CA 94401, Attention: Thomas Jung.

    Our fax number is (650)762-0232.

    Our telephone number is (650)558-2100.

With cash - You or a friend may bring cash to 789 East Poplar Avenue. If you ask a friend to bring payment, make sure to complete the registration form and sign the bottom. Your friend should bring it with your payment.

Do I receive a verification of registration?
No. However, in case you do not perform your orientation on time or if payment is not received, you will receive an email within 2 days after the class begins. At this time, you may reschedule your class.

Can I get a refund?
The San Mateo Adult School gives refund ONLY if a class is canceled. Credit Memos may be conditionally issued, but NOT for fee-based classes. Online classes are not suitable for everyone, so a credit memo may be issued under certain circumstances. You must contact Tom before the deadlines (see above table).

What is online orientation?
Before you can start your class, you will need to attend orientation. You will receive information about your teacher, contacts, assignments, and schedules. Your registration cannot be verified until you have completed orientation.

When should I complete my online orientation?
It is best to complete the orientation session at least 2 days before class begins. Under no circumstances will you be able to access the classroom after the dates listed above. You will need to contact Tom and reschedule for the next month.

What is my confirmation code?
You do not have a confirmation code. Just leave the field blank.

What is my password?
Your password is anything you want it to be. You will create your own password. Write down your password and CAREFULLY type it in during orientation. Remember that passwords are case sensitive. Make sure that your Caps Lock is off. For example: TJung is not the same as tjung or TJUNG. Do not copy and paste the password the second time. Typing it twice is a safety procedure.

If you forget your password after you have started your course, you may have it automatically sent to your email address by filling out the information on this form.

Why can't I access my classroom?
Here are the most common reasons why students cannot access their classrooms:

  • Misspelling surnames - Please be careful when you type your last name (or family name) during orientation.
  • Forgetting or mistyping a password - Write down your password and CAREFULLY type it in during orientation. Remember that passwords are case sensitive. Make sure that your Caps Lock is off. For example: CWagner is not the same as cwagner or CWAGNER. Do not copy and paste the password the second time. Typing it twice is a safety procedure.
  • Choosing a different start date for your class - be careful to click on the correct radio button or circle next to the start date for your class. Make sure it is correct before continuing.
  • Late orientation - Orientations completed after 12:00 noon on the second Wednesday of the month are considered late. Please contact Tom so that he can go back into the system and verify your registration.
  • It's too late - Please take note that it is impossible to admit new students after the deadlines above. If you are delayed, send an email to tjung@smace.org with your full name, method of registration, and section number(s) so that your payment can be applied toward the next month's class.
  • If you have tried all of the above and still cannot access your classroom after 1:00 PM on the start date of your class, please email Tom with your full name, method of registration, and section number(s).
