Distance Learning

For groups of 5 or more, we can have a facilitator go when and where you need one. For more information, call (650) 558-2100 or email tdoyle@smace.org
Parent Education

Parenting is a skill that we must practice and learn. Join a group with similar interests and discuss hot topics in parenting.

Ask your peer group for their opinion,

    speak one-on-one with your facilitator,

or just write thoughts down in your diary for personal reflection.

There is no pressure to discuss what makes you feel uncomfortable.

We have 2 kinds of distance learning options: Peer Groups and Online Classes. There is no charge for peer group classes.

PEER GROUPS:

What you do in class. Your facilitator will be available during a regularly scheduled time so that you may:

  • Discuss a specific developmental issue regarding children in general and in your child(ren)'s age group in particular.
  • Reflect upon your experiences. You can choose to speak with your facilitator privately or hear other parents' insights during group discussions.
  • Go over your homework one-on-one with the facilitator.

What you do at home:

  • Watch videos of how parents and children behave toward each other.
  • Read articles on child psychology that pertain to the specific topic or issue.
  • Answer workbook exercises designed to help you reflect upon the articles.
  • Apply principles of effective parenting at home.
  • Reflect upon your new and old parenting methods.
