What are students saying about this class?

Cynthia,
Thank you for praising my writing !!
I am very glad to read your reply --- --- Yes ! Nowadays, for me, writing sometings in English is becoming easier than before. Everytime I write an e-mail to my dear Korean friend living in Korea, I feel fine, because I can express my mind in English to her easier than the first time we exchanged a email each other !! I believe our friendship becomes tight !

I have convinced that your lessons and your comments are making my writing skills in English improve. Your lessons are sometimes very hard because every lesson has a lot of work, but your lessons always offer me to challenge to write somethings in English. Your lessons give me a chance to write in English !
Your comments are always helpful for me. You make me be a motivated student !!
You always encourage me to write. Your comments about my grammatical errors make me get interested in grammar. I always write down my errors you teach me on my own notebook, and try not to make the same mistakes...( I hope..)

Still, writing someting in English is a very hard task for me... I have to care more about grammar, word choise...more, more... to express my mind to you correctly as possible as I can. Actually, it is now taking 40 minutes to write this better....(Laugh!)

Thank you, Cynthia !

I realize that doing good works at this on-line writing class is the best reply
to express my thanks to you ! As you praise my writing, I am very happy now, and I can have a happy day, Today !

Have a great day !! See you on Lesson4/part3 !!

N, Your student ...

Cynthia, I just want to thank you for your feedback on a pile of my journals I dumped on you in the last few days. Not only are your comments encouraging as a mentor's, but also they are interesting, thoughtful, and in many cases thought-provoking. Before I signed on this "online" writing class, I did not know what to expect. Now, I happily surprised that I actually anticipate and enjoy working on the writing assignments so far, especially, the journal part, which I suspect that it may be something therapeutic. It no doubt has a lot to do with your methodology and hard work, for whick I am grateful. Q1: What is the difference between a thought-provoking question and a provocative question? I was told that both of them are good means for an introduction in writing.

Hi Cynthia: Thanks a lot again. I feel so good running home at night just to read your comments and do my homework. This course goes beyond my expectations, but also demands more time of what I thought before joining the class. Anyway, I'm getting crazy here because I'm not an expert about computers and my printer doesn't work. I need to keep going back and forward between this text and places where the information is. I hope to fix this ASAP. The Scavenger Hunt is very interesting! Give me a global vision of the amount of information that I can get trough. Beside this, the guidance is perfect and things run very easy. What a brilliant idea! OK, time to work now.

Cynthia, I want to thank you in many ways. Here are few examples. Last week, I attended a two-day seminar for Business Writing where I had an opportunity to truly appreciate the knowledge you taught me in this class. For example, the habit of journaling enabled me to write a few impromptu assignments at the seminar at ease. Through this class, your teaching has unlocked a hidden portal for me. This newly found portal leading to a mysterious, fascinating world where writing not only is an attainable skill but also an effective means of improving reading. Because my newly discovered passion in writing, I decided to form a plan to challenge myself. Last Friday, I signed up for study English in the College of San Mateo. It should not take too long before I can obtain an AA there and then transfer to another university for a Bachelor degree in English if I study hard enough. And besides, I don't have to retake any class that matches the ones in my biology degree and MBA program. It's exciting for me because the last time I was in a classroom as an student was more than 10 years ago. Thanks, P.

Dear Ms.Cynthia

Dear Cynthia,
I don't know what the other students in this class think. But the longer I stay in your writing class, the more I like it. Every time I get a new lesson from you, I start to think what my opion is, what should I write to suppor my opion, how to let you know my opion, use what tense, what order of the sentences I shoule use.... I think about it and then start to write. After writing , I put it away, and wait until one week later, click it out and think about it again. I really enjoy it. Then I send it to you and wait for feedback. I am so glad that I can always get positive and encouraging letters from you. Then I think I am on the correct way. I will keep doing it. I can improve. I am confident. I think writing is a very important skill for my life. I think being positive and encouraging is good. Of course a little bit negitive is ok for me too. Or maybe you are worry about the budget problem of the school. You know, it is life. I think everything will be fine. Don't worry!
