Celia is from a small town in New Jersey and moved to the Bay Area in 1998. She has a Master of Arts in Language and Literature and a Bachelor of Science in Legal Management. She loves to travel and has been to the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, Korea and Guam where she has traveled, lived, and taught. She teaches ESL, distance learning, and computer courses at the San Mateo Adult School. She is a member of TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages), CATESOL (California affiliate of TESOL), the California Adult Education Administrators' Association (CAEAA), and the California Council for Adult Education (CCAE).
She enjoys playing the piano and accompanying her son on the clarinet as he plays his saxophone or bass. A few lifetimes ago, she was a ballet and aerobics instructor.

My main professional interest is in educational uses of technology, specifically distance learning and ways that it could be applied to promote social justice and equitable educational opportunities.
Educational Philosophy:
I envision education as academic, personal and professional support. I nurture an appreciation of ethnic and cultural diversity, am dedicated to the advancement of the whole person, and recognize the significance of the individual. I am committed to pursuing relevant and responsive courses, research, and extension services; thus assisting individuals within society in becoming competent, understanding, confident and independent.
