Assignment 3 Sample Description about a Trip
Dear penpal,
Let me tell you about a trip I enjoyed a lot. Two christmas ago I went with my family to Thailand for two and a half weeks vacation. It was the first time we visited this part of the world. It has become a very popular destination for Swedish families on vacation.
Our trip started as early as five a clock in the morning. The weather was very grey, cold and dull in south of Sweden this time of the year, so we all looked forward to this trip. We got a taxi to our closest airport and took a one hour flight to Stockholm in middle of Sweden. Then we boarded our direct flight to south of Thailand. I think it took us around 24 hours to get there. Once one of the engines stopped working and we had to go down to a lower height to restart the engine. It did not feel good but what can you do. Any- way all went well and nothing more dramatic happend before we landed in Puket.
Thailand is a beautiful country to visit with lots of busy but friendly people. The hot temperature makes it sometime hard for people from the cold Nordic countries. We had to be careful and protect ourselves from the shining sun, but it sure was nice to leave the cold grey weather at home for a while. Specially my youngest son appreciated the warm weather and stayed in the pool the whole day.
We went on several guided tours. I specially remember the wildlife tours. We went riding on elephants in the jungle, saw monkeys picking coconuts in the palmtrees, went canoing and visited a snakefarm. We also went scubadiving in the bright blue see. A lovely experience for all of us to learn more about the underwater world.
I must also mention the good tasting food in Thailand. It is very different from the Swedish but very delicious. We all had a great time and I can really recommend the trip to my friends. I would certainly do the trip again if I get the opportunity in the future.
