ROOTS OF JAZZ:  America’s Classical Music $50
A 10-WEEK MUSIC SERIES

A 10 – Week Music Series

For almost a hundred years life in the United States has moved at a pace and cadence that is uniquely “American”. From the thunder and majesty of Gershwin’s incomparable “Rhapsody in Blue” to the pain and heartache of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone singing the blues, JAZZ has provided the soundtrack to our lives and loves – both the way we yearned for them to be, as well as the way  they turned out. Join us as we revisit America’s greatest jazz divas whose music shaped our perceptions, embedded itself into our lives, and is a palpable part of our history. Guest Passes accepted.

Class meets for ten (10) Wednesdays from 1- 2 pm, beginning Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the San Mateo Adult School.
