2010 CLASS FEES

The District Board of Trustees approved  a restructuring of the 50 Plus Program class fees.  Individuals 65 and over will continue to pay the current rate of $30 per class per semester. For mature adult students between the ages of 50 and 64, the class fee will increase from $30 to $50 per class per semester.  The discount for taking two or more courses will be discontinued.  These changes effective January 1, 2010, are reflected below.

  Students: 65 years or older   $30 for one course per semester  
  Students: 50 - 64 years   $50 for one course per semester  
  Students: Under 50 years   $75 for one course per semester  

CURRENT EVENTS
Get involved in an ongoing discussion and analysis of Current Events. Explore national and international news events, as well as key issues that are shaping the world today. Some of those key issues can range from politics, finance and war, to Social Security and health care. Explore your ideas and share your opinion on issues that affect the world in which we live.

GET FIT TO MUSIC
A physical conditioning class to tone and shape to the beat of rock ‘n’ roll, salsa, and swing. Combine aerobics and mat work for a full program of stretching and strengthening, while building endurance. Progress at your own pace. Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared for an hour of fun movement.

QUILTING - SEAMS LIKE FUN!
Discover the latest tools, new patterns, color strategies and share fresh ideas.   Observe other quilters’ perspectives and practice new techniques. Bring your portable sewing machine if possible, however it not essential for this class. Materials fee $10 is payable to the instructor.

SENIOR EXERCISE
Take care of your body throughout the year with a program of aerobics, basic yoga postures and stretching exercises to music. The last part of class consists of exercises done on your mat. For your overall sense of well-being, come join this popular class. Attend once or twice each week.

Singing for Fun
Are you a “closet” singer?”  Do you love to sing in the shower or with the radio? Learn to meld your voice with a group or choose a song from a musical of your own choice. Discover techniques to fine tune your singing voice and tips to perform comfortably in front of like-minded, fun-loving folks.  Non-singers are also welcome.  No audition is required. Join us in a supportive environment, where fun and camaraderie are as important as vocal improvement. No class 11/27.

TAI C’HI
Tai Chi is a graceful, slow-moving exercise system that promotes muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain.  Since it is particularly beneficial for the joints, Chen style Tai Chi is ideal for people over 50. “Silk reeling” exercises, a part of the curriculum, gently open up the major joints of the body, in sequence, from the head to the ankles.  Tai Chi has been shown in clinical studies to improve balance and coordination. No class 4/07.
