Adults of all ages will benefit
from regular mental and physical exercise. This is especially true
for adults who may need a caregiver to assist in their daily
activities. The San Mateo Adult School is addressing these needs by
identifying many of its classes as Companion Courses.
Companion Courses
include classes featuring age-appropriate exercise, creative arts,
and music appreciation. Such classes have been shown to improve
alertness, promote engagement, and stimulate communication among
student participants.
When a student and companion
enroll in one of our Companion Classes, the companion does not pay.
And since the companion is required to stay with the student during
the class, we encourage them to participate right alongside, making
it a more meaningful experience for both of them.
You will find
Companion Courses throughout our 50PLUS section.
