Musicians Wanted! If you’ve been itching to play again come join the West Bay and San Carlos Community Band. Our band has over 60 fun-loving musicians who enjoy playing music of all styles and periods, performing, and appreciate being part of an ensemble. All instruments needed. AFTERNOON AT THE OPERA

Join us for a thrilling 8-week opera appreciation course! We’ll study four operas that will be performed by the Metropolitan Opera in New York and simulcast LIVE to Bay Area movie theaters. We’ll hear spell-binding stories, become absorbed in passionate music, be mesmerized by sensuous performers and have lots of fun! Novices welcome.

8 Monday afternoon class sessions from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Monday, March  20 Idomeneo by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A stunning operatic love triangle accompanied by exquisite arias explodes on the island of Crete just after the Trojan War.

AFTERNOON AT THE OPERA – SUMMER 2017

Join us as we prepare to attend two opera performances broadcast LIVE from the Metropolitan Opera. Eugene Onegin and Der Rosenkavalier are two of the most beloved operas in the repertoire. Both tell the story of unrequited love: one, the love of a young woman for an older man and the other the love of an older woman for a younger man. Opera novices welcome. Register in advance!

 

Monday, April 17 Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Pushkin’s classic novel comes alive through the tragic love triangle between its main protagonists.
